abc Telecommunications provides Information Broadcasting for schools that is accessed through the telephone on-hold feature. The system allows callers to hear information about the school. Parents still speak to someone when the call is answered, but when they are placed on hold they hear information regarding the school rather than waiting on the line. Not only are callers questions answered, they also receive information that may not have been known about the school or school district.

Newsletters and reminders often end up at the bottom of a locker or a backpack for a variety of reasons and parents are unaware of important dates, meetings and school events. Many will call the school office for one item of information, but with the Information Broadcast System, they can be put on hold and brought completely up to date while they remain on the line. All the school has to do is e-mail us the monthly school newsletter and we take care of the rest.

This system has been designed to update information monthly from our digital recording studio and delivered over telephone lines to the school. The school e-mails abc the monthly school newsletter and we take care of the rest. The programs are stored digitally on a receiving unit at the school and the broadcast is heard on all lines of the school telephone system. Callers to the school access the broadcast information system by simply being put on hold.

abc Telecommunications delivers your school's message, keeping parents informed on school related activities and has become a valuable tool for progressive educators.

In a continuing effort to provide the best service possible, we asked schools for feedback regarding the on-hold broadcast service we provide. Here are just a few of the comments we received.

"Parents have commented that they think it's wonderful. Many other schools have heard our message and have inquired about getting the service for their schools. It offers one more vehicle of communication with parents and puts to good use the time spent on hold."
Joyce Sherwin, Principal, Brookwood Elementary, Parkland County School Division

"The response from parents has been very positive. Our on-hold message extends to the school community a reflection of what Mary Butterworth School is all about."
Fred Buffi, Principal, Mary Butterworth School, Edmonton Public

"The on hold broadcast is a valuable way of sharing school and district news, not just with parents, but the broader community has found it informative and positive. It's a good communication tool and truly a voice for education."
Ed Butler, Principal, Parkdale School, Edmonton Public
